Transparent Level Indicators gauges the liquid is contained between two transparent glasses permitting a through vision of the fluid. These gauges are ideal for steam service above 35 bar pressure and or a temperature of 2300C where in Mica shields are used to protect the glass from condensate that causes the silica to be precipitated from the glass.These gauges are also used to observe interface levels or to observe the colour of the fluid.

Reflex Level Indicators have a prism glass window that uses the basic optical principle of light refraction and reflection to enhance the indication of the liquid level. When rays of light enter the liquid space behind the groove it is virtually absorbed by the gauge body so the liquid space behind the gauge body appears black. Light striking the open space above the liquid level is reflected back to the observer, so the area appears silvery. The distinct line that separates the dark and silvery are. clearly shows the actual liquid level in the system.
